Teamsters Local 916 announced the formal endorsement of Alexi Giannoulias for the Office of Secretary of State on Tuesday, June 29, 2021.

 

“Teamsters Local 916 has a history of personally working with Alexi Giannoulias when he served as Illinois State Treasurer,” said JP Fyans, President of Teamsters Local 916. “Our local union has collectively bargained firsthand with Alexi and he negotiated fair contracts with us for our hard-working Teamster members whom are employed in his office. Alexi knows the importance of a collective bargaining agreement and a unionized workforce. He has been very fair to our members and a good steward of the taxpayers’ dollars. We are excited to endorse Alexi and look forward to working with him when he is victorious in the 2022 race for Secretary of State. He will continue to protect the working-class citizenry of Illinois.”

 

Teamsters in Illinois are over 100,000 strong. Teamsters Local 916 represents nearly 5,000 hard-working members of which approximately 250 members are employed and represented in the Office of Secretary of State by Local 916. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents 1.4 million members in North America.
